Low Carb: In-N-Out Burger

If you live in one of the Western states (except Washington–sorry, Washington!), chances are that In-N-Out Burger is one of the places you like to go to get your burger. I like it too, and it's really easy to stay low carb while eating there! Let me show you how.

Of course, as with any other burger place, there are two main sources of carbs here: burger buns and fries. Veggies and spread have carbs of course, but since I'm tracking the blood glucose levels with a continuous glucose monitoring, I figured they don't matter at all: I can barely see any spike if I get my burger with no bun and no potatoes.

One fun thing about In-N-Out is that they have this "secret menu" which has its special names for anything. So, what are my choices there?

A "protein style" is just a lettuce wrapper burger and it comes with all regular veggies and spread. I don't get any spike whatsoever after I eat it:

Going "animal style" adds a pickle, mustard patty, and some extra spread, making it even more balanced meal in my opinion.

There's also a thing they call "flying dutchman", which is basically just a patty with cheese and no veggies (unless you ask for onion); not my choice because I prefer having more veggies and not less veggies, but definitely give it a try if you feel up to it!
